The 411 on Life Insurance Beneficiaries

Life insurance is still one of the single most important coverage policies out there, but many people are still turned off by what they perceive as “gray areas.” Specifically, a lot of potential buyers want to know more information about the beneficiary aspect of life insurance because it’s an area that generates a lot of confusion. Basically, a beneficiary is the person that will receive the buyout of your coverage after you pass away, but is isn’t always that easy. Here are some frequently asked questions about beneficiaries courtesy of your life insurance company in St. Louis.

Do I have to designate a beneficiary?

Yes, absolutely. Without a beneficiary, your life insurance company will not know who to pay the proceeds of your coverage to.

What if I have a will? Do I still need a beneficiary?

It is recommended that, even with a will, you still designate your policy to a beneficiary. If you want the payout of your life insurance to go to someone other than your estate, you can make this happen. In the end, naming a specific beneficiary to receive your payout instead of simply leaving it in your will eliminates any gray areas and ambiguity.

Who can be a beneficiary?

Anyone you like! Normally, beneficiaries are immediate family members but they can be relatives and even close friends. It is possible to leave your buyout to your estate, but your buyout will take longer to reach whoever receives because of all of the legal steps in between.

Our St. Louis agency can help you with any questions you have regarding beneficiaries and other aspects of this valuable coverage, so make sure you contact us today!

It’s “Simplify Your Life” Week; Are You Celebrating?

Did you know that the first week of August is recognized as National “Simplify Your Life” Week? This is your chance to take advantage of this time and organize your life, whether at home or at work. Simplifying may not only relieve you from some stress in life, it could save you money, too!

How?

One word: bundling. As your insurance experts, we believe it is important that you are aware of this way to simplify your coverage. If you have not bundled your insurance policies yet, now may be a good time to do so.  Instead of purchasing coverage from various companies and agencies, bundling means to purchase all of your coverage with one agent. This may not only save you money on your premiums, but may lower the risk of coverage gaps and best of all, be able to simplify your life. Dealing with multiple agents can get confusing for most people, having to remember too many names, numbers and not to mention all that extra paperwork.

By bundling with the same agency, you will not have to worry about dealing with various people. If you are interested in learning more, contact our agency today. We would be more than happy to help you simplify this week!

Our Agency Celebrates National Insurance Awareness Day! Do You?

Are you aware that June 28th is National Insurance Awareness Day? Our Missouri insurance agency is! Let this day serve as a reminder that:

  1. If you haven’t insured an area in your life (apartment, life, boat) it may be time to do so.
  2. Those with coverage should always update when necessary, whether auto, home, life or business insurance.

Keeping up with coverage is important; you never know when the unexpected will hit. Those who assume insurance is unaffordable should consider these money-saving tips:

  • Never be afraid to ask about discounts. There are PLENTY of discounts floating around, it is just a matter of finding the one that will fit your lifestyle.
  • Choose to pay your insurance bills on a yearly basis rather than monthly. This is an easy way to avoid extra installment fees each month.
  • Stick with the same insurance agency for all your needs and bundle your policies.
  • Choose a higher deductible to ensure a lower premium.

If you want to learn more about insurance and the numerous ways you can save, do not hesitate to contact our Missouri insurance agency. We would be happy to speak with you!

Until then, let’s celebrate National Insurance Awareness Day!
